Glandular Types

From: Dr. Abravanel’s "Body Type Diet and Lifetime Nutrition Plan"

Attached is the questionnaire to determine your body type - please let us know if you would like some help to determine your type.

The 4 basic glandular types based on the most prominent endocrine gland used by the individual for energy: Adrenal, Thyroid, Gonadal, Pituitary

For all groups: No snacks between meals if overweight.

  • The basic strategy for A-type

    Much less red meat; proteins from primarily fish and poultry; lot of fresh vegetables; whole grains & fruit; lots of light dairy (not cheese); small amounts of caffeine & sugar O.K.

    Eat light breakfast & lunch; dinner is main meal.

    Helpful: Parsley tea

  • The basic strategy for T-type

    Eat eggs every day; lots of protein from fish and poultry; a moderate amount of red meat; a small amount of carbohydrates from whole grain sources; lots of fresh vegetables and salads; no fruit.

    Eat three equal meals a day.

    Best snack: 1/2 a hard boiled egg for snack if necessary.

    Helpful: Raspberry tea

  • The basic strategy for G-type

    No red meat, a minimum of fat & oil, lots of fruit & fresh vegetables, plenty of light dairy products, a small amount of sugar & caffeine, a moderate amount of carbohydrates, mostly from whole grains and no stimulating spices

    Eat very light breakfast, light lunch and substantial dinner.

    Best snack: small portion of fruit.

    Helpful: Red clover tea

  • The basic strategy for P-type

    No diary products; plenty of protein from animal sources(particularly beef and organ meats with chicken & fish for variety); carbohydrates in moderation but from whole grain sources only; fruit in moderation; no sugar or white flour; no caffeine & plenty of vegetables, both cooked & raw.

    Eat substantial breakfast with meat, include protein with lunch, have light dinner. Best snack: meat

    Helpful tea: Fenugreek
